Japanese Onomatopoeia is more than just 'the dog goes bark' or 'the cow says moo'. There are so many different sounds and kinds, and can usually be classified into a few different categories:

Giseigo 擬声語 Animal and human sounds.

Giongo 擬音語 Actual sounds made by inanimate objects and nature.

Gitaigo 擬態語 Describe conditions and states.

Giyougo 擬容語 Describe movements and motions.

Gijougo 擬情語 Describe feelings.

Inspired by the wide variety of sounds and not-sounds, I decided to draw out ideas for prints (ideally for posters, clothing and textiles) using the expressions I found most interesting. 

モシモシ is the equivalent of the phrase 'Hello' when answering the phone, ベトベト is the sound of a liquid dripping like sweat or blood, キラキラ represents sparkly things, or a person having a twinkle in their eye, and ドキドキ is used to refer to the feeling or sound of one's heart beating quickly out of excitement, nervousness, or love.
